Neff Press designed and built a 2,500 ton triple action four post press (with 550 ton cushion) for the oil and gas industry. This forging application involves forming and extruding a steel plate up to four inches thick at temps up to 2,400° F. The 40 ft. tall and 440,000 lb. pound press was engineered with the ability to meet current and future needs of the customer.

Neff integrated custom hydraulic die clamping for quick die change and built it to withstand the high temps involved in forging. We also integrated a two position hydraulically activated shuttle capable of holding 30,000 lbs. of tooling to allow for the two stage process required in this application. 3D software was used to simulate installation at our customer’s facility.
