Hydraulic Column Presses

Neff Press Column presses are offered from 2 to 10,000 tons. These robust, high-speed production presses are designed with maximum bearing contact for uniform control of the slide. Parallelism and flatness are critical dimensions that we hold close tolerances on each press. Its 4-sided accessibility, custom bed/slide options – including multiple slides, and a wide array of integration packages make it a wise investment.

How do I choose the correct tonnage and bed size for my application?

Choose press tonnage by calculating the cut or bend perimeter, material thickness, and shear strength, then add a 20%–30% safety margin to avoid overworking the frame; additionally, select a bed size large enough for the maximum die size, required workspace, and tool clamping areas.

Press Applications

A hydraulic column press is used for applications that require greater structural support, even force distribution, and access from multiple sides. Its 4-post design makes it a strong choice for larger parts, heavier loads, and production processes that need more control, stability, and repeatable performance.

From upsetting and cold heading to bending and impact extrusion, forging presses deliver the force and control needed for demanding applications.

When material flow is difficult to control, drawing presses help reduce wrinkling, tearing, and inconsistent finished parts.

Controlled force, tooling, powder handling, and automation help turn powdered materials into more uniform finished parts.

For hot stamping, close-tolerance dies, and feed integration, hydraulic presses help manufacturers create repeatable formed parts with stronger process control.
