At Neff Press, growth has always meant investing in the tools, space, and people that let us build better presses for our customers. Back in 2012, that commitment took a very literal—and very vertical—form.
Â
Rather than expand outward, Neff Press invested roughly $1 million to add about 6.5 stories on top of an existing building at our St. Louis facility. The result was a dramatically taller manufacturing envelope: a bay standing over 60 feet tall, paired with more than 90 tons of lifting capacity.
For a hydraulic press manufacturer, that kind of vertical clearance and overhead lifting muscle isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. The presses we build are large, heavy, and precision-assembled, and having the height and crane capacity to lift, stack, and assemble major components in-house lets us take on bigger, more ambitious projects without outgrowing our own four walls.
Â
The expansion wasn’t just about square footage; it was about the future of the business. As reported by the St. Louis Business Journal in September 2012, Neff Press President John Murphy expected the project to help grow company revenue to nearly $12 million that year—a clear signal that the added capacity was tied directly to rising demand for custom hydraulic presses.
Â
More than a decade later, that investment continues to pay off. The taller bays and heavy lifting capacity remain part of what makes Neff Press a genuinely capable custom press builder—able to design, assemble, and test large presses under one American-made roof. It’s a good example of the long-term mindset behind everything we do: build for durability, invest in capability, and keep serving our customers year after year.
