NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2020

Welcome to our first update of 2020. It’s been a busy stretch here at Neff Press, from new industry certifications for our team to a lineup of custom presses built for a range of demanding applications. Here’s what we’ve been up to.

Congratulations to Our Newly Certified Fluid Power Technicians

We’re proud to congratulate our production manager and technicians—John Stathopulos, Toby Maier, Mike Townshend, Brad Eskew, and Josh Humphreys—on becoming our most recent certified Fluid Power Technicians through the International Fluid Power Society (IFPS). The IFPS keeps pace with the always-changing world of fluid power and motion control technologies, and its certification is recognized industry-wide.

With this certification under their belts, our technicians can serve customers even better thanks to a deeper understanding of hydraulics, including hydraulic schematics and sizing calculations. Completing the training required for the Fluid Power Technician certification takes real dedication, and it means our team is now even better equipped to troubleshoot machinery and deliver the best service in the hydraulics industry.

New Contract: Custom Electric Servo Column Press for Aerospace

Neff Press was recently awarded a contract from a major aerospace company and long-time customer. The project calls for a custom Electric Servo column press with 60 tons of force, designed with 70″ daylight, a 48″ stroke, and a 61″ x 46″ bed area to accommodate the customer’s loading and unloading needs.

For this build, Neff is supplying an open-architecture controls platform with data acquisition, along with integrated safety and quick die change. One standout feature of this Electric Servo press: it’s designed to dwell for up to 24 hours.

Recent Custom Builds

MetalBrik Briquetter (MX30-20M)

Neff Press designed and built a MetalBrik briquetter for compressing steel and aluminum. This MX30-20M model features two 8″ bore hydraulic cylinders running at 4,250 PSI. The system uses a ½-yard side-entry hopper with an agitator that forces stringy material into the unit, and it includes a cart dumper with a 1,500-lb lift capacity. Thanks to our dual compaction feature, Neff’s MetalBrik delivers the most compact and driest puck available.

75-Ton C-Frame Press

Neff Press designed and built a 75-ton C-Frame press with 26″ daylight and a 10″ stroke. It features an automatic single stroke that lets it act as a slave to auxiliary automation, and it also includes opto-touch buttons, two-hand trip mode, quick die change (QDC), and light curtain guarding.

200-Ton Rail-Guided Press

Neff Press designed and built a 200-ton rail-guided press with a 12″ stroke. This press offers a tonnage accuracy of +/- 2% of the setpoint and a positioning accuracy of +/- 0.010″, making it ideal for applications with very tight die clearances. The slide design is a Neff Press standard, guided by oversized linear guide rails with zero running clearance, allowing for better concentricity of tooling compared to the bronze bushings used on a typical four-post press.
